On June 23, 2025, Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar addressed a gathering at the launch of the book “The New World: 21st Century Global Order and India” authored by Shri Ram Madhav in New Delhi.
In his speech, the Vice President recalled the thoughts of Vinayak Damodar Savarkar, emphasizing that nations operate based on self-interest rather than idealism or morality. He highlighted Savarkar’s realist vision, which rejected dependence on international institutions that failed to recognize India’s importance historically.
Shri Dhankhar said, “Strengthening Bharat is the governing philosophy and resolve of the government. It is steadfast, firm, non-negotiable, and spinally strong.” He cautioned against being swayed by temporary distractions and urged citizens to stay aligned with national interests.
The Vice President agreed with the author’s concern over the decline of global multilateralism and advocated for India to focus on economic growth over idealistic internationalism.
He rebutted Western academic notions such as George Tanham’s view that India lacks strategic thinking, pointing to ancient Indian philosophies like Rajadharma, Dharmayudha, and Kautilya’s Mandala Theory as evidence of deep-rooted strategic frameworks.
Addressing global peace, Shri Dhankhar stated, “Bharat has never engaged in expansionism and has always stood for harmony.” He praised India’s leadership at the G20 summit, particularly in bringing attention to the Global South and integrating the African Union into the G20 framework.
He also warned about internal and external divisive forces, emphasizing the importance of unity in India’s rise. He lauded India’s linguistic diversity and advocated for inclusive policymaking through intellectual and political dialogue.
