NITI Aayog’s Latest Future Front Report Calls for Stronger Data Quality in Governance
NITI Aayog has released the third edition of its quarterly insights series Future Front, titled “India’s Data Imperative: The Pivot Towards Quality.” The report emphasizes the critical importance of enhancing data quality to support better digital governance, boost citizen trust, and ensure effective delivery of public services.
The report introduces two practical tools designed to strengthen India’s data ecosystem:
- Data-Quality Scorecard – to assess and monitor specific data quality attributes.
- Data-Quality Maturity Framework – a self-assessment tool for institutions to plan quality improvements and track progress over time.
Senior government officials participated in the release event, including Shri B.V.R. Subrahmanyam (CEO, NITI Aayog), Dr. Saurabh Garg (Secretary, MoSPI), and Ms. Debjani Ghosh (Distinguished Fellow, NITI Aayog), who collectively shared insights on the urgent need to reform and reinforce India’s data infrastructure.
The gathering brought together experts, policy makers, and representatives from Union ministries and departments to reflect on building a robust and trusted data culture in India.
With the Future Front series, NITI Aayog continues to steer national discourse toward actionable policy and innovation in emerging governance themes.
