Justice Vipul M. Pancholi Takes Oath as Chief Justice of Patna High Court
On July 21, 2025, Justice Vipul M. Pancholi was sworn in as the 45th Chief Justice of the Patna High Court. Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan administered the oath at a ceremony held at Raj Bhavan in Patna, attended by senior judges, state officials, and members of the Bar.
Distinguished Legal Journey
Born on May 28, 1968, in Ahmedabad, Justice Pancholi earned a BSc in Electronics and an LLM in Commercial Law. He began his legal practice in 1991 at the Gujarat High Court, later serving as Assistant Government Pleader and Additional Public Prosecutor. Elevated to Additional Judge in 2014 and confirmed in 2016, he was transferred to the Patna High Court in July 2023.
Ceremonial Significance
The ceremony followed a farewell event for Acting Chief Justice Ashutosh Kumar, who moved to the Gauhati High Court. Pancholi praised his predecessor’s contributions and affirmed his commitment to upholding judicial integrity and ensuring timely justice across the bench.
