NAVYA Skilling Programme to Be Launched for Adolescent Girls in 27 Districts

In alignment with the Prime Minister’s Viksit Bharat@2047 vision, the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) will launch a new joint initiative titled NAVYANurturing Aspirations through Vocational Training for Young Adolescent Girls.

The initiative will be formally launched on 24th June 2025 in Sonbhadra, Uttar Pradesh, by Shri Jayant Chaudhary, Minister of State (Independent Charge), MSDE, and Smt. Savitri Thakur, Minister of State, MWCD. The programme is designed to empower adolescent girls aged 16–18 (with at least Class 10 qualification) by equipping them with vocational skills, particularly in non-traditional sectors.

The pilot will roll out in 27 districts across 19 states, including aspirational districts and those in the North-East, ensuring the inclusion of underserved regions. The NAVYA initiative will leverage flagship schemes like PMKVY and PM Vishwakarma to deliver training and certification.

During the launch, the ministries will also formalize their long-term collaboration to converge skilling efforts for girls. The event will feature interactions with trainees and distribution of PMKVY/PM Vishwakarma certificates.

NAVYA represents a bold step towards women-led development. It aims to nurture the confidence and potential of every adolescent girl, empowering them as agents of change in India’s journey towards becoming a self-reliant and developed nation.
