The Gujarat government has taken a progressive step to simplify the learning license process for citizens. Starting from July 7, 2025, applicants across the state can now apply for learning licenses through a “faceless, Aadhaar-based e-KYC system”, eliminating the need to physically visit the RTO in most cases.
According to the announcement from the Office of the Commissioner of Transport, the new system allows applicants to complete their application entirely online, using Aadhaar authentication. This digital upgrade makes it more convenient, faster, and user-friendly, especially for people living in remote or rural areas.
While the faceless process will serve the majority, applicants who prefer or need to apply offline will still be able to visit RTO, ARTO, ITI, or Polytechnic offices for document verification and driving test procedures. The dual-mode approach ensures inclusivity and accessibility for all segments of society.
The move aligns with the state’s larger mission to provide smart governance and reduce the administrative burden on both citizens and departments. By digitizing key transport services, Gujarat continues to lead in e-Governance innovation.
Citizens can now apply for their learning licenses from the comfort of their homes without standing in long queues—making the process smoother, quicker, and more efficient.
