Assessment Camps for Senior Citizens Begin in Bhavnagar under Vayoshri Yojana

Union Minister of State for Food and Consumer Affairs, Smt. Nimuben Bambhaniya, inaugurated a series of assessment camps for senior citizens under the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana in Bhavnagar on June 30, 2025.

These camps are jointly supported by the Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) and the Department of Social Justice, and will run across various urban and rural locations in Bhavnagar from June 30 to July 15, 2025.

The objective is to assess eligible senior citizens (aged 60 and above with income below ₹15,000/month) for free distribution of assistive aids. Aadhar card and income proof are required for on-the-spot registration. Beneficiaries will be provided with items such as walking sticks, wheelchairs, walkers, hearing aids, dentures, toilet chairs, knee supports, LS belts, and more.

The first camp is being held at Sir T. General Hospital for Bhavnagar City (East, West, and Rural zones), followed by sessions across Ghogha, Sihor, Vallabhipur, Umrala, Talaja, Mahuva, Jesar, Gariyadhar, and Palitana talukas on specific dates through July 15.

Additional services include support for filling forms under the senior pension scheme, Ayushman cards, and income certificate generation during the camp.

Dignitaries present at the launch included Mayor Shri Bharatbhai Barad, Standing Committee Chairperson Shri Rajubhai Rabadiya, Deputy Mayor Smt. Monaben Parkhe, Municipal Commissioner Shri N. K. Meena, Police Superintendent Dr. Harshad Patel, and Resident Additional Collector Shri N. D. Govani, among others.

The initiative reflects the government’s commitment to uplift the elderly and ensure dignity and accessibility in their day-to-day lives.
