Lok Sabha Speaker Addresses ‘Samvaad Se Samadhaan’
At a Mahavir Foundation event themed ‘Samvaad Se Samadhaan’, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla emphasized the role of dialogue in resolving modern conflicts and reaffirmed India’s rich democratic traditions.
Relevance of Lord Mahavir’s Teachings
Shri Birla reflected on the timeless wisdom of Lord Mahavir, whose message of non-violence, compassion, and self-discipline continues to hold value in today’s turbulent world. He noted that these teachings transcend religious boundaries and offer a universal blueprint for peace and ethical living.
Dialogue Over Discord
In an era marked by global instability, the Speaker asserted that violence and confrontation cannot solve problems. Instead, he championed the principle of dialogue grounded in mutual respect as the only sustainable path forward. He stated, “Samvaad Se Samadhaan is not just philosophical but a necessary practical approach.”
India — The Mother of Democracy
Shri Birla highlighted that India’s democratic journey began long before independence in 1947. He stressed that democracy was never imported to India—it was inherited from ancient systems of community governance and consensus-building. These traditions laid the foundation for today’s constitutional democracy.
Celebrating 75 Years of the Constitution
As India marks 75 years of its Constitution, the Speaker emphasized that the world looks to India as a beacon of democratic resilience. He credited India’s progress and stability to its inclusive democratic ethos, built on dialogue, cooperation, and collective decision-making.
Voices from the Event
Also present at the event were Shri Ram Shinde (Chairman, Maharashtra Legislative Council), Shri Milind Deora (MP), and several other dignitaries who echoed the importance of spiritual and democratic harmony in India’s development journey.
