INS Teg Wraps Up Operational Visit to Mauritius, Strengthening Maritime Partnership
INS Teg, a frontline stealth frigate of the Western Naval Command, concluded its port visit to Port Louis, Mauritius on 22 June 2025. The visit was part of India’s operational deployment to the South West Indian Ocean Region (SW IOR), aiming to reinforce maritime diplomacy and regional cooperation.
During its stay, INS Teg engaged in joint surveillance operations of Mauritius’ Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) alongside the National Coast Guard (NCG) ships and aircraft. This collaboration underlined the shared commitment of both nations to ensure maritime security and combat Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing activities.
Captain Vikas Guleria, Commanding Officer of INS Teg, met with several dignitaries including the Commissioner of Police Mr. Rampersad Sooroojebally, Secretary to Cabinet Mr. Suresh Seebaluck, India’s High Commissioner Mr. Anurag Srivastava, and other senior officials, further cementing diplomatic ties between the two countries.
As part of training and capacity building, NCG personnel received hands-on instruction onboard in areas such as firefighting, damage control, electrical systems, and bridge operations. The Indian Navy team also provided technical assistance to the crew of CGS Valiant to operationalize a diesel generator.
The deployment also marked International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2025 with a joint yoga session involving over 150 participants, including naval and government personnel from both countries. Recreational activities such as a trek to Signal Mountain and a volleyball match were also organized to build camaraderie.
INS Teg’s visit is a reaffirmation of India’s commitment to enhancing maritime cooperation in the Indian Ocean, strengthening regional friendships, and promoting security through partnership and shared values.
