Finance Minister Showcases Export-Led Strategy at Exim Bank Trade Conclave 2025
Union Finance and Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman addressed the Exim Bank Trade Conclave 2025 in New Delhi on 24 June 2025, underscoring the government’s commitment to export-led growth for Viksit Bharat.
She emphasized the significance of the Trade Assistance Programme (TAP) introduced by Exim Bank in 2022, which enables exporters to access high-risk markets. Since inception, TAP has partnered with over 100 overseas banks and facilitated more than 1,100 export transactions across 51 countries.
The Minister highlighted several policy initiatives including infrastructure investments, reforms in MSME definition and Udyam registration, revamped credit guarantee schemes, and support for startups through the Ubharte Sitaare Programme. She also noted the role of Exim Finserve (a GIFT City-based subsidiary) in export factoring.
Smt. Sitharaman discussed ongoing negotiations of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) with the EU and the US, while highlighting the ₹5.3 lakh crore worth of exports catalyzed through the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme.
During the conclave, she inaugurated Exim Bank’s new offices in Lucknow, Indore, and São Paulo (Brazil), which aim to enhance outreach to aspiring exporters and new markets.
Minister of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary and Secretary Shri M. Nagaraju addressed the event, focusing on financial system readiness, MSME competitiveness, and export financing initiatives.
Research reports launched at the event included studies on critical minerals for energy transition, India’s defense equipment exports, and ASEAN-India textile trade.
Over 200 participants joined the conclave, including exporters, bankers, researchers, and policy leaders.
