Dr. Chandra Shekhar Kumar, Secretary of the Ministry of Minority Affairs, chaired the 47th Empowered Committee Meeting on 23 June 2025 to review proposals under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram (PMJVK). The meeting focused on developmental proposals submitted by the states of Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Himachal Pradesh, and Maharashtra.

PMJVK is a flagship initiative that aims to create infrastructure and support services in minority-concentrated areas to improve the quality of life and economic opportunities for underprivileged communities. The reviewed proposals are expected to further strengthen the implementation of PMJVK in these northeastern and western states.

The Ministry emphasized the importance of timely implementation and coordination between central and state agencies to ensure maximum benefits for minority communities. The committee will evaluate these proposals further for funding approvals and execution.
