Raksha Mantri to Represent India at SCO Defence Ministers’ Meeting in Qingdao
Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh will lead India’s high-level delegation at the upcoming Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled in Qingdao, China from June 25 to 26, 2025.
At the meeting, the Defence Ministers of SCO member states are expected to deliberate on critical topics such as regional and international peace, counter-terrorism cooperation, and defence partnership mechanisms across the SCO bloc.
Shri Rajnath Singh is likely to reaffirm India’s commitment to the SCO’s founding principles and push for strengthened collaboration against terrorism and extremism. He is also expected to present India’s broader vision of fostering peace, security, trade, economic growth, and connectivity within the SCO framework.
Along the sidelines, Raksha Mantri will engage in bilateral discussions with his counterparts from China and Russia, among others, to further India’s strategic and defence partnerships.
India continues to value the SCO as a vital regional platform for multilateralism, diplomatic engagement, and inclusive growth. India became a full member of the SCO in 2017 and held the rotating chairmanship in 2023. The 2025 SCO summit is being chaired by China under the theme “Upholding the Shanghai Spirit: SCO on the Move.”
The SCO comprises member nations including Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Belarus, and India.
