Major Boost for Rural Governance Infrastructure
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a grant of ₹489.95 crore to construct **2,055 new Gram Panchayat houses** across Gujarat. This initiative is part of the Talati-Cum-Minister Housing Scheme—aiming for full coverage across all Gram Panchayats in the state.
Funding Linked to Village Population
The funding model allocates:
• ₹40 lakh to villages with populations above 10,000,
• ₹34.83 lakh to those between 5,000 and 10,000,
• ₹25 lakh for villages with under 5,000 residents.
Expanding Access to Government Services
Dedicated Panchayat houses ensure that residents can access government services locally, efficiently, and transparently. By replacing dilapidated structures or filling gaps where none existed, the program strengthens democratic infrastructure at the grassroots.
What Lies Ahead
- Construction is expected to begin later this year across the selected Panchayats.
- Modern amenities in these buildings are being emphasised to facilitate citizen service delivery.
- State authorities are aiming for full saturation, expanding future allocations to cover all Panchayats.
