The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, launched the vibrant ‘Indian Mango Mania 2025’ in Abu Dhabi. The in-store mango festival, organized in collaboration with the Embassy of India in the UAE and the Lulu Group, aims to elevate India’s mango exports by bringing premium varieties to the forefront of the global market.
Timed with the peak mango season, the event was inaugurated at LuLu Hypermarket, Khalidiyah Mall, by Ambassador of India to the UAE, Shri Sunjay Sudhir, alongside Lulu Group Chairman Shri Yusuff Ali M.A., and senior dignitaries from APEDA and the Indian Embassy.
The festival featured a stunning array of GI-tagged and regional mango varieties including:
- Banarasi Langda
- Dasheri
- Chausa
- Sunderja
- Amrapali
- Malda
- Bharat Bhog
- Prabha Shankar
- Lakshman Bhog
- Mahmood Bahar
- Vrindavani
- Fasli
- Mallika
Ambassador Sudhir emphasized the strong India–UAE agricultural trade relationship, noting LuLu’s important role in distributing Indian produce across the Gulf. “This event ensures the finest mangoes from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Madhya Pradesh reach households throughout the region,” he said.
Chairman Yusuff Ali reaffirmed Lulu Group’s commitment to promoting Indian products and highlighted the demand among the Indian diaspora for seasonal delicacies like mangoes. From India, APEDA Chairman Shri Abhishek Dev stated that APEDA had actively facilitated the airlifting of diverse mango varieties to the UAE, helping both growers and exporters.
The promotion also included a curated culinary showcase with a mango twist, featuring:
- Bakery & Desserts: Mango pastries, macaroons, cakes
- Traditional Indian Dishes: Mambazha payasam, mango pulao, chutney, kichadi
- Snacks & Salads: Mango fritters, tropical salads, raita
- Fusion Cuisine: Mango sushi, stuffed chicken, chapli kebabs
- Preserves & Pickles: Mango-dates, garlic mango, Kashmiri-style
- Beverages: Juices, smoothies, pulps, jams, and jellies
In 2024, India exported over 12,000 metric tonnes of mangoes worth USD 20 million to the UAE, making it the top export destination. APEDA continues to work toward expanding market access for Indian mango growers, FPOs, and agri-exporters through global events like these.
