Narendra Modi Stadium Hosts World’s Largest Blood Donation Camp for PM Modi’s 75th Birthday

Historic Blood Donation Drive at Narendra Modi Stadium

On September 17, 2025, as part of “Raktadan Amrit Mahotsav 2.0”, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad hosted what is being called the “world’s largest blood donation camp”, organised by the Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad (ABTYP). The event was virtually inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Scale & Participation

  • Over 20,000 donors are expected to participate in the stadium camp itself.
  • More than “7,500 blood donation camps” are being held across “75 countries”, including Nepal, Sri Lanka, UAE, Australia, UK, etc., to collect “3 lakh units of blood in a single day”.

Organisation and Logistics

The camp begins at “6:00 AM”. Entry gates are being managed as follows: Gates 1 & 2 for walk-in donors, Gate 3 for vehicles with parking, and Gate 4 for VIPs. Assistance staff includes around “1,500 volunteers from ABTYP” and “500 from NSS”. Over 75 blood banks from across Gujarat are taking part.

Community & Institutional Support

Organisers say the drive involves “75,000 youth workers”, “4,000 blood banks”, “5,000 doctors”, “25,000 technicians”, and more than “1 lakh volunteers”. Multiple social organisations, trade bodies, and educational institutions are supporting the initiative.

Significance & Message

State leaders, including Minister Harsh Sanghavi, emphasized that this initiative is inspired by PM Modi’s maxim “Seva Parmo Dharma” (service is the highest duty). The aim is not just numbers, but also to foster compassion, a service mindset, and encourage first-time donors.

What to Note for Donors

Donors and volunteers are encouraged to arrive early, bring valid ID proofs, follow health safety norms, and remain patient with logistics and crowd management. The drive also includes home delivery of collected blood on request to ensure timely access for patients in need.

More Service & Health Initiatives

This blood donation effort is part of a broader “Seva Pakhwada” and state-wide health camps, screening programmes, and free services being rolled out in Gujarat during the PM’s birthday celebrations. For updates on these and related welfare endeavours, check our news section.
