The under‑23 Asian champion Sumit dominated his way to the final in Budapest. After defeating Sadyk Lalaev 9–3, he pinned Korea’s Dahyun Kim and then defeated Kazakhstan’s Galym Kabdunassarov by technical superiority. In the final, he fell 1–5 to European champion Nihat Mammadli of Azerbaijan, earning the silver medal.

Anil Mor Takes Bronze after Repechage Run

Anil Mor, competing in the 55 kg class and ranked number one, lost in the quarterfinals to Emin Sefershaev. However, he fought through the repechage, beating Moldova’s Artium Deleanu 7–0 and Uzbekistan’s Ikhtiyor Botirov 7–4 to secure bronze.

Team India Impresses Overall

Indian women wrestlers also excelled in Budapest, contributing to a combined total of ten medals—three golds, three silvers, and four bronzes—for Team India at the event.

The Polyák Imre & Varga János Memorial, held from July 17–20 in Budapest, serves as the final ranking event of the year and plays a crucial role in improving seeding for the upcoming World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb this September.
