President Inaugurates Facilities, Lays Foundation for Girls’ Hostel at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University

President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated a series of new facilities and laid the foundation stone for upcoming infrastructure projects at Mahayogi Gorakhnath University in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh, on July 1, 2025.

The event marked the opening of the University’s Auditorium, Academic Block, and Panchkarma Centre, alongside the laying of the foundation stone for a new Girls’ Hostel—a move hailed by the President as a vital step toward promoting women’s higher education and empowerment.

Praising the university for offering integrated medical education in both Allopathy and Ayurveda, President Murmu also acknowledged the launch of a new 1800-bed hospital under Shri Gorakshanath Medical College Hospital and Research Centre. She noted that these facilities would greatly enhance healthcare and educational access in eastern Uttar Pradesh and surrounding regions.

“When girls have safe housing, their educational journey becomes stronger and more secure,” she said. “This new hostel is not just a building—it is an investment in the future of young women.”

The President highlighted the importance of private institutions working with a spirit of service and said such efforts are aligned with the goals of the National Education Policy 2020. Mahayogi Gorakhnath University, she noted, is the first private university in Gorakhpur to make a significant impact in just four years, offering employment-oriented education rooted in values like spirituality and patriotism.

She expressed confidence that when regions like Purvanchal become healthier and better educated, they pave the way for Uttar Pradesh—and by extension, India—to reach new heights in inclusive development.
