Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla inaugurated the National Conference of Estimates Committees of Parliament and State/UT Legislative Bodies in Mumbai, Maharashtra on 23 June 2025.
The inaugural session was marked by the release of the 75th Anniversary Souvenir of the Estimates Committee of Parliament. Several prominent leaders were present, including Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Shri Eknath Shinde and Shri Ajit Pawar, Chairman of the Maharashtra Legislative Council Prof. Ram Shankar Shinde, and Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Shri Rahul Narwekar.
The Chairperson of the Committee on Estimates of Parliament, Dr. Sanjay Jaiswal, also addressed the session. The Welcome Address was delivered by Shri Arjun Panditrao Khotkar, Chairperson of the Committee on Estimates of the Maharashtra Legislature. The Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr. Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of the Maharashtra Legislative Council.
The two-day conference focuses on the theme: ‘Role of Estimates Committee in Effective Monitoring and Review of Budget Estimates for Ensuring Efficiency and Economy in Administration’.
On the concluding day, 24 June 2025, the Valedictory Address will be delivered by the Governor of Maharashtra, Shri C.P. Radhakrishnan. Other key speakers include Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Shri Harivansh, and Leader of Opposition of the Maharashtra Legislative Council Shri Ambadas Danve.
Deputy Speaker of the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Shri Anna Dadu Bansode will offer the Vote of Thanks during the valedictory session.
