India Breaks into Top 10 of AI Index 2024, PM Modi Hails Nation’s Progress
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi applauded India’s significant rise in the Stanford University’s AI Index 2024, where the country now ranks among the top 10 global AI leaders. He highlighted how India’s policies and efforts are shaping a strong digital and technological ecosystem.
The Global AI Index is published by Stanford University and measures a country’s AI progress across parameters like talent, infrastructure, operating environment, research, development, and commercial use.
India’s high ranking is seen as a reflection of its policy initiatives such as the National Programme on Artificial Intelligence, support for AI startups, digital public infrastructure, and its focus on ethical, inclusive, and scalable innovation.
The Prime Minister described India’s ascent as a recognition of the innovation capacity of Indian youth and the strength of the country’s vibrant digital ecosystem.
The government continues to emphasize AI applications in sectors like healthcare, education, agriculture, and governance. The achievement is being seen as a morale booster as India gears up to play a defining role in the global tech landscape in the coming decade.
