The monsoon has begun to make its presence felt across Gujarat, with significant rainfall recorded in several parts of the state over the past 24 hours. According to the latest report from the State Emergency Operations Center in Gandhinagar, Kadi taluka in Mehsana district received the highest rainfall, logging an impressive 3.6 inches.
Close behind was Viramgam taluka in Ahmedabad, which also recorded over 3 inches. Other areas that saw notable showers include Khergam in Navsari, Umarpada in Surat, and Kalol in Gandhinagar, each receiving more than 2 inches of rain.
Out of Gujarat’s 252 talukas, 189 reported rainfall during the same period. While 25 talukas recorded more than one inch, a majority—159 talukas—saw less than an inch.
As of 6:00 AM on June 30, the state’s seasonal rainfall average stands at 33%. Regionally, South Gujarat has received the most so far, with 35.75% of its average, while North Gujarat trails behind at 24.77%.
Farmers in many districts have welcomed the rains, which are expected to help kickstart sowing activities for the kharif season. However, officials continue to monitor the situation to manage waterlogging and ensure timely updates to the public.
