
Government Clears Procurement of Moong and Urad in MP & UP Under Price Support Scheme
Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare and Rural Development, Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan, has approved the procurement of Moong and Urad in Madhya Pradesh, and Urad in Uttar Pradesh, under the Price Support Scheme (PSS).
In a meeting with the agriculture ministers of both states, Shri Chouhan directed key agencies including NAFED, NCCF, and state officials to implement the procurement strategy effectively.
While acknowledging the financial implications, the Minister stated that the move aligns with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s commitment to safeguard farmers’ interests. He emphasized direct procurement from farmers to eliminate middlemen and ensure transparency.
Shri Chouhan instructed the use of latest technologies for proper farmer registration and called for increasing the number of procurement centers as required. He also expressed concern over storage irregularities and asked state ministers to ensure accountability in the process.
He assured the Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister of the Centre’s full cooperation and stressed the importance of making the procurement process beneficial and seamless for farmers.
The meeting was attended by Shri Aidal Singh Kansana (MP Minister for Agriculture), Shri Surya Pratap Shahi (UP Agriculture Minister), Union Agriculture Secretary Shri Devesh Chaturvedi, and senior officials.
