Amul Dairy Board Election Sees 97% Voter Turnout, Results on September 12

Massive Voter Turnout in Amul Dairy Board Election

The Kaira District Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Ltd., popularly known as Amul Dairy, held its board election on September 10, 2025. The cooperative witnessed a remarkable 97.48% voter turnout, making it one of the most actively participated elections in recent times.

Polling was conducted across eight blocks and one individual seat. Voting began at 9:00 AM and continued until 3:00 PM, with over 900 members exercising their rights to shape the future of the cooperative.

Uncontested Wins for BJP-Backed Candidates

Out of 12 blocks in the Amul Dairy structure, four blocks saw uncontested victories by candidates backed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This left elections necessary in the remaining eight blocks, where competitive voting took place among the cooperative members.

The uncontested wins highlight the political influence within cooperative elections in Gujarat, where party-backed candidates often play a major role in determining leadership outcomes.

Vote Counting and Results Announcement

The counting of votes is scheduled for Friday, September 12, 2025. The process will be carried out in two phases, after which the results will be declared on the same day. The announcement is expected to shape the leadership direction of one of India’s most successful dairy cooperatives.

Amul Dairy elections have historically drawn significant attention due to their impact on Gujarat’s dairy sector, rural economy, and cooperative governance model. This year’s high turnout further reflects the importance of the election among members.

Why This Election Matters

Amul Dairy is not just a cooperative; it is the backbone of India’s White Revolution and a global brand name. The decisions taken by its board affect thousands of dairy farmers, supply chain partners, and consumers across India.

With such high participation, the results on September 12 are being closely watched by both the dairy industry and political observers. The outcome will also provide insights into the evolving dynamics of cooperative politics in Gujarat.
